A UK Visa allows you to visit, study, or work and live in the UK. To apply for a UK Visa, you must live outside of the UK.

UK Visa application

Before applying for a UK Visa, you must find out which Visa you need to apply for. You must also find out if you need to take a Tuberculosis test, this is to avoid an outbreak in the UK if you have the disease. You can check which visa you need to apply for over on the dedicated government website. You will need information about your date of birth and home country before doing this.

Depending on which Visa you intend to apply for, and the country you originate from, you UK Visa fee may differ in price from that of someone else. Prices may also differ if you are choosing a Visa which allows you to live in the UK for work. If you are at an academic level, you could be paying around £170 a year. If your job relies on a labour intensive role, you may only have to pay £87 a year. Other visas can cost between the amounts of £200 – £1500. UK Visa processing time

Depending on the type of Visa you have applied for, and from which country you originate from, the waiting time for Visa’s can be from anytime between 15 to 60 days. If 60 days has passed and you have no yet received your Visa, ring the number above and we will put you through to a member of the UK Visa team. We advise having all of the information you had when applying for your visa handy with you when ringing the number above.

If you are a US citizen and wish to apply for a UK Visa, you can use the dedicated government website. Simply choose the USA from the dropdown menu and follow the steps on the screen. You may need some personal information, and we advise having a pen and paper handy – in case you need to right down important reference numbers.

I have a new passport, do I need to change my UK Visa?

If you are applying for a new passport, you may be able to transfer your visa to the new document. There is a fee of around £200 to do this, however. For more information on this service, ring the number above or visit the government dedicated website.

Can I get a UK Visa with a criminal record?

If you have a criminal record when applying for a UK visa, you must disclose this information. A member of the UK Visa team will then investigate your record and decide whether you should be given a UK Visa or not.
